Acne

What is acne and what is the cause?
Acne is an inflammation process caused by clogged sebaceous glands which secrete oily sebum. Excessive production of sebum is usually caused by the hormone androgen and other lifestyle factors. This oily environment is ideal for bacteria reproduction (Propionibacterium acnes) which are the primary cause triggering the inflammation process. The symptoms include reddening, pain and swelling of the spot; uncomfortable pimples are the result.  


What are the other factors causing acne? 
There might be a wide range of factors triggering acne such as stress, smoking, diet, medication, hormones or incorrect skincare.
This problem is usually tackled with medication, cosmetics or other aesthetic treatments (laser, peeling or micro-needling).
